Slserv

So SlServ is almost totally working. Today i added support for queued messages to both incoming and outgoing sl messages. The only issues now are with the sl side scripts which i am too lazy to make work properly. I will probably make them work properly eventually but for now i am satisfied with having the server side part work as intended (mostly). Also i migrated slserv over to google code seeing as setting up trac ldap and svn on helixoide.com was proving to be difficult. the link is http://code.google.com/p/helixoide-slserv/

DarkDna.net

So I am now a blogger on darkdna.net if you want to see me post more random meaningless crap ^.^

Happenings

Well right now I have been busy working on Helixoide SlServ. It is just a project made out of boredom and a lack of a true free open source solution. It is currently under heavy development. Though I only work on it when I have nothing better to do. You can find the source on trac.helixoide.com. The entire thing is programmed in Java since thats the language I know best right now. Right now the sl side of the system is non-existent but the irc side of the system is nearing completion. (in case you are wonder slserv links second life to irc)

Christmas

Well I had a great Christmas this year. I received a new telephoto lens for my camera, and a ps3. With the ps3 i was also given Rachet and Clank Future. Then using the money i also received on Christmas i went out and bought Assassin’s Creed II. Anyway. not much happening with Helixoide right now. I have started working on a Second Life to IRC interface thingy, but that i a long term project and i need to learn more java before attempting some of the more complex parts. Beyond that I successfully ran an IRC server on my ipod touch out of boredom and thats about it. Happy holidays everyone (even though they have all past)

Happy Holidays

Well happy holidays from everyone at Helixoide (aka me) As the year comes to an end I look back and see how much I have accomplished. Since i began working under the name Helixoide i have finally gotten a domain name, set up an irc server and done numerous things with my server. I would also like to take the time to thank zsizsi who kindly gave me Cypher. Without that little computer Helixoide.com would not exist as it does today. Anywho time to look to the future. I plan on expanding as much as i can and doing all kinds of things with the helixoide servers. I am currently developing some projects with java and i will see how they go. well Happy Holidays Everyone.

Unreal3.2

Today I started messing with unreal ircd once again. The difference between this time and the other times is that I actually got it working. Today I just dedicated my self to figuring out all the obscure options and other annoying bits and pieces relating to IRC. I eventually got Unreal3.2 and Anope1.8.2 working together and everything was happy.  Then with the help of Selig I linked the new helixoide server into irc.darkdna.net. So for now I am donating cypher’s ircd to darkdna. I might try again later to create my own network but for now I am satisfied with this.

SCHEDULED DOWNTIME: Tomorrow everything …

SCHEDULED DOWNTIME: Tomorrow everything will be off, servers, routers, refrigerators, etc. This is because a massive tree, right next to the house is being taken down. The tree also conveniently happens to be right next to the power line into the house. So the tree crews are going to be here all day tomorrow so everything has to be off. Kind of inconvenient but meh, thats what i get for hosting stuff at home.

The program of boredom

Yesterday i was going to my computer science class with a friend, she said something along the lines of “Imma let your program finish but…” So i took that and ran with it so now i have a basic rather poorly coded example of kanye interrupting your program with “Imma let your program finish…but beyonce’s program had the best error of all time.” Eventually i am going to make it more advanced and provide different amusing error messages but for now this is fine here is a link to the program is you want to see it/mess with it –> kanyeError

The status of Cypher

Well it has been 6 days since i last made the changes to cypher, these changes included operated system upgrades changes to vsftpd, a proxy server and changes to some kernel modules, these changes have appeared to stabilize the server and gotten most of the things I wanted working. Now i need to find other things to do with it

Backup system

Well i have set up a new system to make backups of cypher just to insure redundancy. These backups will happen at midnight everyday judging by the cpu usage during this first backup it would seem they are rather intensive so we shall see how it works out in the long run. The external drive i’m using is also kind of noisy :/
